Why DermaSci exists

Skin science is extraordinarily complex. The industry pretends it isn't.

The skin is a living, dynamic organ. Every visible change reflects overlapping processes at the cellular and molecular level: signalling, inflammation, barrier function, pigment production, vascular activity, collagen synthesis and the microbiome itself.

Nobody can reasonably evaluate that complexity while standing in a store, browsing products online or listening to their favourite influencer. Marketing overstates what products do, and people are exhausted with decision fatigue.

Clinics offering increasingly technical procedures face a similar problem at the consultation stage: a confused client is unlikely to proceed, and the opportunity is lost.

The result is a population of confused, distrustful consumers and clinics who cannot get or keep clients.

Our rating scale

Every ingredient and procedure carries an evidence level and the recommendation it supports. When the science is strong we say so, and when it is early or unsettled we say that too. We do not average conflicting findings into a false middle.
